Preparing for a Power Outage Like a Boss



When you’re four hours into a Netflix binge and the power goes out for 15 minutes, it’s a minor freak-out. If you’ve got solar power with a battery backup system, you may not even need to get up. But if the power’s out for hours or days, it can be a different story.

You may remember to put a flashlight in the kitchen drawer when preparing for a power outage, but there’s actually a lot more that needs to be done if you expect (or don’t expect) to be in the dark for a while. In this case, your reliance on technology is quickly put to the test. The good news? The extent of that test can vary along with your dependence on the grid.
